At Out of the Cold Shelter we strive to provide shelter that is warm, welcoming, safe, respectful and inclusive.
We provide care in a format that works from an attachment and trauma informed and supportive framework.
We work to build authentic relationships that promote individuality, increase self esteem, provide inclusion, are empowering and success orientated.
Guests are supported in moving towards their individual goals with support with referrals, connections, as well as skill development.
Guests who may be struggling with mental health or behaviours requiring support, are provided care under our Intensive Case Managment programming which functions from a success orientated focus by identifying goals, and strategies, to assist in planning for a successful shelter stay.
The shelter mindfully creates a space where our guests see themselves as having a place of belonging. Family picture boards line the hallway, showing both guests and staff engaging in activities such as karaoke, pizza nights, games, crafts, decorating cookies, and everyday shelter life. This provides a sense of inclusion in their space and is a space for celebration, relationship, remembrance, and community building.
We believe that ALL persons are valuable and deserve to feel valued.
IF you or a loved one require shelter support please reach out to us for support and/or referral.

Out of the Cold welcomes in Guests every night on a 'first come first serve Basis’ from 8pm to 8am. This format provides the ability for ALL persons to have the opportunity to receive shelter. Persons seeking shelter service line up for intake each night and while the first 25 will receive a bed for the night, the shelter strives to provide support to any person who comes to our door. Persons over and above the 25-bed count are welcomed in for a hot meal, warm conversation, shower, laundry service and clothing/toiletries. We also provide referrals to other shelters if beds are available.
Out of the Cold provides a safe shelter program for seniors over the age of 55 experiencing homelessness. We understand that seniors have specific needs that require intentional care and planning. This program operates from a referral and intake process for bed access. The Olive Branch program operates 24 hours per day and seniors are assisted with referrals to housing, detox, treatment, medical and dental referalls, appointment assistance and medication storage.
